A pressing issue...
If it's a dress shirt, there is only one way to do it right:
1. Collar first. If you don't do it this way, don't do it in my presence!!!
2. Shoulders - from front left, around the back then the front right.
3. One sleeve, starting with inside of the cuff and sleeve pleats from the inside - the crease is always determined by the the seam of the sleeve!!!
4. Repeat on second sleeve.
5. Then the front/back panels.
(Guess what Amber's been doing today?)
Not only could I *not* tell you where our iron is, I couldn't even tell you if we still have one! I don't wear anything that can't be washed and worn straight out of the dryer, and that goes for the rest of the family as well! If we need to look pressed, we strip in the garage, toss our togs back in, and play our banjos until things have smoothed out.

I thought the right way to iron was to drive them to the dry cleaners. I abhor ironing, I'll have shirts sit for months that need to be ironed...sometimes I forget I have them.

Ironing? What are you talking about? I thought I'd only bookmarked English written sites?

Thanks for the tip. Now I can maybe cut down my ironing a dress shirt from 25 minutes to 20 minutes a shirt

Well, I've just spilt my tea on the mouse. That's exactly how I try and do it.
Emphasis on TRY of course.
There are the odd occasions when the sleeve crease turns into a dual carriage way too, but not often.

I'm sorry...I mean, I hate to disagree with you in public like this but really, thats the wrong sequence.
In my humble opinion, it works best when starting with the left-front portion of the shirt and moving around until you've completed the right-front. Then you move to the sleeves and finish up witht he shoulders/collar area.
Of course, I live in a different country. Maybe its a cultural thing ;-)

Hmmm, it's funny, I was actually planning to look up the proper procedure, hoping to find some silly "Ironing For Guys" webpage. This is most helpful.
When you get the time, could you draw diagrams for each bullet point or have someone snap some pictures of you doing each step?
:)
